STEEL BRIGHT BARS
[EIRI/EDPR/1979] J.C.: 876
INTRODUCTION
Steel bar with a clean, smooth, bright surface, which may be ground or, sometimes, polished, and a round cross section it is characterized by highly precise dimensions. Carbon and alloy tool steel and certain grades of alloy structural steel are chiefly produced in this form. Silver steel is used without mechanical surface working. Bright bars are basically re-rolling products. The Bright bars are basically the raw material for a number of industries engaged in the manufacture of items such as bolts, nuts, shafts Iron bar etc.
Bright steel bar is usually a carbon steel alloy which has had the surface condition improved by drawing, peeling or grinding over the hot rolled finish supplied by the steel mill. Advantages achieved include improved machining, less wastage at component production stage, enhancement of physical and mechanical properties and improved dimensional tolerances and straightness.
Bright drawn mild steel is an improved quality material, free of scale, and has been cold worked (drawn or rolled) to size. It is produced to close dimensional tolerances. Straightness and flatness are better than black steel. It is more suitable for repetition precision machining.
