CREPE BANDAGE, POP BANDAGE,
MEDICAL ADHESIVE TAPE (INTEGRATED UNIT)
 [CODE NO.3373]

Crepe bandages are used as a dressing for fracture Bones and Sprain as a temporary basis. Its prevents the access of pathogenic germs. It is very soft and inert and provide a cushion and protection to fracture bones and sprains without causing any irritation.

The main institutional consumers of crepe bandages are hospitals. Clinics and nursing homes. The manufacture of crepe bandage is regulated by Drugs and Cosmetics Control Act. It is manufacture in India by both large and Small Scale Units.

At the incidences of simple & compound fracture of bones as well as  sprains etc. ordinary cloth bands were used conventionally Which were unhygienic as well as uncomfortable. The crepe Bandage comes into rescue.

Medical adhesive tape is a strip of cotton fabric whose one side is pasted with the antiseptic paste. These tapes are used for readymade bandages. No any additional medicine is required in this case.

At the starting of the medical age the wounds (small) cuts, pimples etc. were cured by using specific roots of trees and plants. As the medical science became advanced, the gauge has been started in practice for binding the medicine with the wounds cuts  etc.  few introductions in the bandage field  come  up  and these surgical tape is the latest one.

There are some parts of body where the cotton bandage is not possible  to be tied and at such places these adhesive tapes are frequently used. This is the most important advantage of this tape. Another importance is that the bandaging by  this  tape consumes  very few time. And hence saves much time. This tape is very convenient in use and quite handy.

Plaster of paris which is used for plaster of paris bandage is basically dehydrated calcined gypsum. Gypsum in a natural mineral form of CaSo42H2O This mineral occurs in various forms from hard solid rock to progmentary and granular forms. Plaster of paris is a white powder  which hardens  with  the  addition  of water.

Plaster of paris is used in hospital work mainly  for providing mechanical support or to immoblize various parts of the body as for instance in fractures and  sprains. Plaster jackets are used to support the thorox in tuberculosis of the spine bandages saturated with dry powder are dipped in tapid water at the time of application. Dry calcium sulphate is recommended as an absorbent dressing for wounded, foul ulcers etc.
