INTRODUCTION
Bags (Domestic and Industrial) are used in day to day life in almost all countries for packaging of variety of articles. Sky bag manufacturing industry consists of large number of units of the small scale and cottage industry sector and is highly labour intensive providing job to millions of people. It draws its major raw material fabric cloth from the decentralised power loom sector thus giving substance to a large number of weavers engaged there in. The fabric used is of cotton, linen.
Bags (Domestic and Industrial) of various constructions are used largely in the transportation and storage of dry chemicals and other variety of consumer items. The choice of which type of bag should be made with reference to the cost/benefit ratio pertaining to the intended applications. To some degree, bags can be custom made for a particular product.
Shipment & transportation of hazardous materials in bags must be according to the regulations. Bags must have sufficiently strength & tear and snag resistance. Cotton bags are available with variety of and also special finishes. They may also be printed for the brand specification and for the decorative purposes by variety of colorful matters.
Textile Bags
Textile bags are made from fiber, eg. cotton, burlap etc. Burlap or Hessian cloth is woven from jute fibers. The supply of jute and consequently, its price have been uncertain for many years. As a result, textile bags gradually have been replaced by combinations of textile components with plastic or paper, multiwall paper bags or plastic bags.
Burlap bags, can be made in various weights according to the product requirements, are exceptionally strong and highly tear and snag resistant. They are used largely for agricultural crops and animal feeds. Collection & renovative services buy used bag for resale.
Cotton fabrics are domestic and export shipments of flour, processed grain products, animal feed and seeds. High price of cotton bags outweigh their advantages eg. Attractive appearance and good resale value and has caused then to decline in significance as a packaging medium.
Bags sizes are specified in terms of width of material used for fabricating bag eg. 102 cm, 0.3 kg. Burlap cut 107 cm denotes that a single bag is made from a web of 0.3 kg burlap which is cut 102 cm wide and 107 cm long.
