R.C.C. SPUN PIPES (VIBRATED CAST PIPE)
CODE NO. 3524
Rainforced cement concrete (R. C. C.) pipes Popularly known as "Hume pipes" was discovered by "sir waltes hume at Australia. These pipes are produced by Centrifugal spinning process. The Hume pipes were introduced in India with the help of 'Abet brothers' by the name "The Indian Hume Pipe Co. Ltd." As early as 1926.
Today there are tremendous private R.C.C. pipes factories throughout India even in remote area too.
One of such factory is everest spun pipe Industries, started in 1979-80 under small scale Industries.
The proprator shri. Namdev K. Jagtap at first was a pipe jointer who started undertaking contracts works since 1966. He completed more then 86 lift irrigation schomes throughout Pune district from 1950 tp 1093 the firm successfully completed more than 100 lift irrigation schemes on tuzkey bases and they are still working successfully without and leakage or damage.
RCC/Hume pipes are made of a mixture of portland cement, sand and aggregate in the proportion of 1:2:5:2.5 with steel rods and wires as reinforcement material. These pipes are manufactured in diameters ranging from 300 mm to 2200 mm or more. The RCC pipes are suitable for irrigation, culvert construction, and sewerage and drainage purposes. Transportation of water, sewerage, effluents or other liquid slurries in these pipes is quite smooth. Seepage or leakage is totally avoided by proper jointing & sealing of two consecutive pieces of the pipe line. Hume pipes have reasonably good load-bearing capacity, and hence, can be laid either underground or over the ground. Carefully made pipes, tested as per IS : 458-1971, are available in a wide range of sizes for use. Well constructed steel wire/rod cage is concentrically placed inside the pipe mould where premixed concrete is charged for pipe casting. The rotating moulds receive the feed material through open ends at both ends.
This project proposes to manufacture RCC/hume pipes in a range of diameters and 1.8 m & 2.8 m lengths which are in very common use.
