MICROCELLULAR SHEETS FOR SHOES
[CODE NO. 2027]
The rubber has been a material of tremendae economic and strategic importance and is an excellent barometers of the industrialization of nations. In the united states, the per capita consumption of rubber is approximately 34 lbs per person : in India it is scarcely 1/2 1b per person. Transportation the chemical electrical and electronics industries, and the space efforts are all major consumers of rubber. When supplies of natural rubber were shut off because of Japan's invasion of rubber-producing are as early in world war II. The united state built up a synthetic rubber industry which has centimed to expend enormously, so that at the present time 70% of rubber consumed in the united states is of synthetic origin. The rubber industry involves the production of monomers or raw materials for natural and synthetic rubbers, the rubber, the production of rubber chemical, and finally the fabrication of rubber products.
NATURAL RUBBER
Dandelion, guayule, goldenrod. osage orange, and numerous other plants have been proposed as sources of rubber, but name has proved to be as successful as the latex producing tree Aevea brasiliemsis, a native of America, which has flourished in plantings in the world's natural rubber supply, expect for minor collections in Brazil and other south America and central America countries, and the collection of balata chicl from other species of trees.
Latex is obtained by tapping the tree in such a manner as to allow the liquid to accumalate in small cups which must be collected frequently to avoid putrefaction or contamination. The latex is carried to collectia statias, where it is struined and the preservation (NH3) may be added.
