INTRODUCTION
The gloves are made from latex by dipping method. In the same plant of hand gloves, other products like finger stalls, balloons etc. can also be manufactured.
Deposition of rubber by dipping an article in rubber solution in order to obtain thin walled articles in and old process, toy balloons, gloves for surgical and household use were made by dipping forms in milled rubber solution as cements. A single dip was sufficient for producing very thin articles, but in case of heavy ones the dipping and drying operations had to be repeated several times. The solution uses as of high viscosity, yet it contain only a very small percentage of rubber, consequently the usage of solvent was high and the method of solvent recovery were very inefficient. It was not surprising that when latex become commercially available attempts were made to use it in place of rubber solutions. Dipped goods from latex especially surgical gloves, industrial gloves, finger stalls etc. are finding increasing use formerly almost these articles were important. However, some large scale units in the country almost monopolized the manufacture and the marketing of these products. Recently much progress has been made in small sector. Especially because technical knowhow is no longer a problem and all the raw materials are available indigenously.
Dipped goods from rubber latex, specially surgical gloves, industrial gloves, finger stalls, cathetrar, surgical and vetinery appliances are finding increasing use. Formerly almost all these items were imported. However, some large scale units in this country almost monopolished the manufacture and marketing of these products. Recently must progress has been made in small scale sector. Especially because technical knowhow is no longer a problem and all the raw materials are no indigenously available. The prevent scheme is based on common items like surgical gloves, fingers stalls, tubes etc.
The quality products under this group will have good export market.
The demand for different types of dipped goods from latex has been steadily increasing. Some of the units producing dipped goods are working additional shifts to meet the demand. Though specific information on the capacity, production and demand of this item is not available, based on the performance of the existing units it is clear that there is a good demand for the product.
The hand gloves made from latex are of the two types. One of the industrial hand gloves and the other surgical hand gloves.
Medical gloves are disposable gloves used during medical examinations and procedures that help prevent contamination between caregivers an patients. Medical gloves are made of different polymers including latex, nitrile rubber, vinyl and neoprene; they come unpowdered, or powdered with cornstarch to lubricate the gloves, making them easier to put on the hands. Cornstarch replaced tissue-irritating Lycopodium powder and talc, but since even cornstarch can impede healing if it gets into tissues (as during surgery), unpowdered gloves are being used more often during surgery and other sensitive procedures. Special manufacturing processes are used to compensate for the lack of powder. There are two main types of gloves: exam and surgical. Surgical gloves have more precise sizing with a better precision and sensitivity and are made to a higher standard. Exam gloves are available as either sterile or non-sterile, while surgical gloves are generally sterile.
