INTRODUCTION
The removal of unsightly hair from certain parts of the body beautifies. Adepilatory, therefore is correctly classed as a cosmetic.
It has been confirmed through market surveys that about one quarter of the faminine population of the country remove superfluous hair either by mechanical or chemical methods. The reason for the growth of super fluous hair has not been definately determined often this condition does detract definitely from one's personal appearance.
Women particularly do not wish to appear mannish by having hair prominent, particularly on the face. Then too, the spread of contemporary fashions which dictate the use of sleeveless gowns and bathing suit and either sheer or cosmetic stocking dictate the removal of hair under the arms and on the legs.
The mechanical methods which are used to remove undesired hair are shaving, electrical methods which include X-Ray, high frequency currents and galvanism and epilation or pulling out the hair. The last rightfully falls into the cosmetic field while the other two are really devices shaving of hair hardly needs any further comment as the process is well understood. The other electrical methods consist of the use of a galvanic current and high frequency current. The galvanic method consist of passing a direct current through one or several specially made needles inserted at the hari follicle and causing a chemical reaction to destroy the hair permanently. This method though slow has met with good result over a long period of year.
Another quite generally employed method of removing unwanted hair is by the use of epilating wax. This method is painful though rapid.
