[EIRI/EDPR/1006] J.C.: 9645
INTRODUCTION
Egg Tray is becoming an eminent item these days for housing eggs in a safer packing schedule manner and their demand is increasing day by day. Among all the food products egg is a very common and important item which used in almost every meal and in every refreshment. It is neither considered fully vegetarian, nonvegetarian and hence both the classes of the people consume it largely.
The market scenario of egg trays is suggestive of their good prospects. The consumption and demand of eggs is increasing day by day and the exact data of consumption can not be given. But it can be said by studying the present market trend that the supply of eggs is less than the demand and there is a wide gap in between the two which is not possible to fill in near future.
Egg Tray is designed in such a shape so as to accomodate the shape of eggs. The shape of the egg is ellipsoidal and cannot remain straight when kept in a plain tray or box and there are chances of cracking or breaking which spoils the egg. For this special type of trays are developed named egg trays which are used in storing the eggs in lesser space. These trays are generally made of paper pulp and contain conical cavities according to the size of the egg to be racked. These trays also protect the eggs from damage and by storage absorb compact shocks during transportation.
Egg trays can be made from pulp as well as plastic, though the former is more in demand. Sometimes these egg trays are also made of plastic but due to their lesser flexibility they are not so much popular. Moreover plastic trays are costler.
Development in poultry farming accounts for a bright future of egg tray industry. Poultry farming is now recognised as one of the most suitable agro industries for villagers and for those who want to resort to diversification of farming activities. The poultry industry has many desirable features. It is widely dispersed and could be made more so as to create a people-oriented, employment. It can be carried out in clean and open rural surroundings and adds to the traditional farming activities by providing valuable manure. It is also an industry with lot of potential for intercropping from tress to other animal husbandry activities. The term poultry, though now exclusively used with reference to chicken breeding, is really a word that encompasses a wide range of thrive species such as duck, turkey, geese and guinea-fowl domesticated for economic purposes.
Overall, the scope of the Egg tray industry is very good.
