Detailed Project Report on ceiling fan
CEILING FAN
[CODE NO.4052]

A ceiling fan refers to a mechanical fan that is mounted on the ceiling of a room, so as to circulate air within the room. Ceiling fans are used to cool the air effectively in the room where they are mounted. Ceiling fans are known to create a cooling effect by heat exchange via convection. They do not reduce air temperature or humidity in any way.

It should be understood well that cooling is thermodynamically expensive and hence fans use significantly less power. The ceiling fans are known to have multiple functions. These fans are known to mix in a ventilated space and thus lead to more homogenous environmental conditions. In warm or neutral environmental, moving air is preferred over stagnant air – thus, ceiling fans increase occupant satisfaction.

Ceiling fans are an instrumental element of natural ventilation systems, low energy HVAC and passive cooling in buildings. Ceiling fans are an efficient way of improving the thermal comfort by keeping occupants comfortable and allowing higher ambient air temperature to set in. Ceiling fans are an economic choice in humid and warm environments.

Ceiling fans are effectively used to cool the atmosphere in residential buildings as well as office spaces. Personally controlled ceiling fans have a positive impact on thermal comfort of people, thereby increasing the satisfaction of the occupants. Ceiling fans aid in the distribution of fresh air in naturally ventilated as well as mechanically ventilated spaces. In the mechanically ventilated spaces, fans are channelized to circulate conditioned air in a room.

The direction in which the ceiling fan spins should change on whether the room needs to be heated or cooled. It needs to be understood well that ceiling fans do not directly change the air temperature. Instead, they are known to just move the air within a space / room. Ceiling fans does not usually cool air, but the breeze created by a ceiling fan speedens up the evaporation of the sweat on human skin which makes the body feel cooler. Thus, ceiling fans may become absolutely ineffective at cooling the body if the surrounding air is near body temperature and contains much humidity.

In today’s modern times, companies are manufacturing energy saving fans which create less noise and give much comfort and class the end customers. These 5 star class fans are designed with attractive sweep sizes, designs and technology. These energy saving fans are known to suit all the parameters of style, energy efficiency and performance.

Thus, ceilings fans are used to bring in the best of comfort to the people using them creating the apt temperature conditions as required by them. They do not increase / reduce temperature, on the contrary, they simply move the air in the surroundings to create a cooler environment. The best of brands manufacturing ceiling fans are available in the market today with various kinds of fans. It is in the interest of the consumer to choose the ceiling fan type required by him as per his requirements.
