EVA SHEET MANUFACTURING PLANT
[CODE NO.4298]
Properties and Applications
Ethylene vinyl acetate or EVA is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate with a structure as shown below. It is an extremely elastic and tough thermoplastic of excellent clarity and gloss and with little odor. EVA has many attractive properties including low cost, excellent adhesion to many polar and nonporous substrates, good flex-crack and puncture resistance, as well as good hot-tack and heat-sealing. Typically, this thermoplastic resin is copolymerized with other resins like LDPE and LLDPE or it is part of a multilayer film. In blends and copolymers, the percentage of EVA ranges from 2% to 25%. It enhances clarity and sealability of olefins (LDPE/LLDPE) whereas a higher percentage of EVA is often used to reduce the melting point and to improve the low temperature performance.
EVA copolymers containing about 10 and 30 percent vinyl acetate are used for a myriad of applications in the packaging and plastic goods industries. Important applications include sealants in meat and dairy packaging structures, footwear, wire and cable insulation, pipes, toys, corks, photovoltaic encapsulation, medical packaging, hot melt adhesives, and lamination of glass to improve impact resistance.
Eva Foam is used for production and remains strong at low temperatures and retains its UV radiation and stress-cracking and possesses hot-melt adhesive waterproof properties.
