ETHANOL PRODUCTION FROM SUGAR CANE (PRODUCTION RATE – 20 KLPD)
[EIRI/EDPR/4643] J.C.: 2860XL
Ethanol is one of the principal biofuels, which is naturally produced by the fermentation of sugars by yeasts or via petrochemical processes such as ethylene hydration. It has medical applications as an antiseptic and disinfectant. It is used as a chemical solvent and in the synthesis of organic compounds, apart from being an alternative fuel source.
Ethanol produced either by fermentation or by synthesis is obtained as a dilute aqueous solution and must be concentrated by fractional distillation. Direct distillation can yield at best the constant-boiling-point mixture containing 95.6 percent by weight of ethanol. Dehydration of the constant-boiling-point mixture yields anhydrous, or absolute, alcohol. Ethanol intended for industrial use is usually denatured (rendered unfit to drink), typically with methanol, benzene, or kerosene.
Ethanol is the IUPAC name for their chemical. The name alcohol is a generic name derived from two Arabic words, al and kohl.
It is intended to prepare a Feasibility Report to install 20 KL/Day Sugarcane based Ethanol production facility as a Green Field Project.
