INTRODUCTION
Meat meal are the end product of animal raised on farm. The residuce of animal tissue that are not used for human food.
The process of converting live stock into food by the meat industry result in a large torrage of by products which for me reason or another is not used for food. The raw material from which these by products are made are trimmuigs and offal which may not be classed as food for eithetic reason, plus all other trimmage and bones from healthy animals and any tissue or even the entire coscoss of animal that show any symptone of a pathological condition, From an economic and sanitary stand point, all of these material must be processed.
Many meat packing plant have established rendering department that process all in edible material in the plant, In addition large number of rendering plant have been established at strate go point, which collect and process in edible materials from slaughtering or meat processing plant, that do not operate their own rendering department, and crimmings from meat retails stores, restaurent, hotel, or other establishment handling meat some rendering plant also collect and process animals that have died on the falm, in the feed lot, or in trased.
The rendering operation perform a very important function in the economy of our country. They convert in edible tissue of animal in nutritious products which are used in feed for other animal. The protein in the animal by product concentrate helps fill the need for nutrients that are absolutely indispensible in rulretion.
The rendering operation also perform an important function from a sanitary stand point in disposing of proteinate and animal tissue which are not used in food and which might other were become as potntial health hazard if not properly handled.
Meat meal is the defatted tankage from dry rendering is milled to farm meat and bone meal which is utilizal as animal feed and sold in the market on the basis fo protein content.
